Description
The next training and orientation session for Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (Richland SWCD) Volunteer Precipitation Monitors will be held on Thursday, May 14 at 2:30 p.m. at the Richland SWCD office located in the Richland County Longview Center at 1495 W. Longview Avenue, Suite 205B, Mansfield. If you enjoy keeping track of when it rains or snows, you’ll enjoy this volunteer opportunity. As a Precipitation Monitor you will measure and record rain and snowfall at your home or business. Data is used to gauge long-term trends in watershed health and land use practices. We’ll train you and provide the equipment; all you need is access to the internet. Your data is shared with the public on the Richland SWCD Water Data Map at http://richlandswcd.net/services/water/water-data-map. This is a great citizen-science opportunity that doesn’t require a lot of time and provides valuable data. For more information or to register for the training by May 13, please call 419.747.8685 or e-mail sutter.theresa@richlandswcd.net. Richland SWCD develops, implements and assists landowners, government agencies and our partners with a wide range of natural resource conservation services. Services and assistance of Richland SWCD are available without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, age, national origin, ancestry, disability or veteran status.
