Richland Area Chamber Legislative Luncheon Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court Maureen O'Connor September 4, 2013 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. At the Mid Ohio Conference Center 890 West Fourth Street, Mansfield Chamber members are invited to a Richland Area Chamber Luncheon with Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court Maureen O'Connor on Wednesday, September 4th at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center located at 890 West Fourth Street in Mansfield. The cost for Chamber members to attend is $15. The cost for non-members is $30. Lunch will begin at 11:30 and we will conclude the program by 1:00. Chief Justice O'Connor will speak after lunch and her presentation will be followed by a question and answer session. Chief Justice O'Connor was first elected to the Ohio Supreme Court in 2002 as an associate Justice. In 2010 she was elected Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court, defeating sitting Chief Justice Eric Brown who had been appointed by Governor Ted Strickland after the death of Thomas Moyer. Raised in Strongsville and Parma, Chief Justice O'Connor has over 30 years of legal, judicial and political experience. She began her career as a private attorney in 1980 before being appointed a magistrate in Summit County in 1985. In 1993, Chief Justice O'Connor became a judge in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas. In 1995 she resigned as a judge to become the Summit County Prosecuting Attorney. In 1998 she was elected as Ohio's Lieutenant Governor where she served from 1999 to 2003. As the chair of Ohio's Security Task Force, she played a very important role in formulating and implementing Ohio's response to terrorist threats following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
