Description
Richland County community members are invited to an evening of celebration for the Leadership Unlimited program at Dan Lew Exchange.
This celebration is a special moment to honor the outstanding achievements of the Leadership Unlimited Class of 2026. Join us as graduates receive their plaques and are recognized for their dedication, growth, and commitment to leadership. Guests will also enjoy an inspiring keynote address focused on building stronger, more engaged communities.
The event will spotlight A WestingHOUSE Party, a collaborative project planned by community leaders and the class. In addition, we will proudly announce the 2026 LU Outstanding Alumnus, honoring an individual who exemplifies exceptional leadership and community impact.
Community members are warmly encouraged to join us for a memorable and inspiring evening of celebration and connection. LU alumni are invited to reach out to their classmates, gather your group, and attend together as we honor the next generation of community leaders.
Keynote Speaker
Sam VanCura - LU Class of 1988
"From Learning to Leading: Your Role in Community Transformation"
A lifelong Mansfield resident, Sam VanCura (LU Class of 1988) has built his career and community life around loyalty, entrepreneurship, and a love of adventure. After attending Malabar High School and being part of the first class at OSU Mansfield’s Ovalwood Hall, he continued his studies at OSU, Kent State, Ashland College, and the University of Akron, though he jokes he’s still a “second‑quarter senior.”
Sam began working full-time at age 20 and spent three decades with Gobeille‑Robinson and Associates, eventually becoming owner. He later founded Total Performance, Inc., a company that designs competitive swimming training machines. An avid swimmer himself, he’s in the pool four to five days a week. Sam also enjoys bringing laughter to the community through the Third Saturday in August Comedy Club, now in its 39th year.
Sam and his wife, Janet, have three children, Kelly Scholl, Tim, and Chase, and five grandchildren. Tim now works alongside him at Total Performance.
An enthusiastic hiker, skier, and traveler, Sam has explored all 50 states and trekked trails in Switzerland, New Zealand, the Azores, and across the U.S., with Utah topping his list. When he’s home, you’ll often find him outdoors cutting and splitting firewood.
