Free Opportunity to Improve Communication Surrounding Sexuality

Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio, along with the support from local partners, will begin an educational series in Mansfield called Parent Circles. This series is designed to give adults the tools necessary to have healthy discussions surrounding sex and sexuality with the young people in their lives. This free program is for parents as well as professionals who work with parents or youth directly. The curriculum will review sexual health basics, offer communication techniques, and practice skills necessary to have healthy conversations about sexuality. Richland County teens deserve the best possible sexual health education and we hope to equip their trusted adults with the skills necessary to meet this need. Refreshments will be provided at each of the 4 meetings, gift cards will be awarded upon completion, and social work CEUs are pending. We will host four group programs between May and July, each consisting of four 2-hour classes intended to teach parents and guardians how to create a safe space with children to openly discuss healthy relationships, gender, responsible sexual decision making, and reproductive life plans. Parents and guardians will gain knowledge about the basics of sex education and sexuality. In addition, participants will be empowered with information and activities to continue those conversations at home.
