Starting in April 2017, The Richland County Community Health Partners started the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) Process with the intention of selecting priority issues that when addressed, could greatly improve future outcomes of Richland County residents. They met to review many sources of information concerning the health and social challenges adults, youth, and children are facing. They determined two priority issues: Chronic Disease and Mental Health and Addiction. The Richland County Community Health Partners then endorsed specific action steps to address the two priority issues. It is the hope that other agencies and organizations throughout Richland County will embrace the selected action steps to help make Richland County a healthier place to live and work. There is a strong business case for health. If comprehensively implemented, we could see a reduction in chronic disease and mental health issues and addictions leading to lower healthcare premiums, less absenteeism, and a drug-free and healthier workforce.
