Description
Main Street Books is pleased to announce a new monthly literary series called ''Borderlands: Poetry On the Edge.'' These poetry readings feature writers we have invited from all over the state; the readings by our hand-picked poets will be followed by a brief open mic. Borderlands takes place on the third Saturday of every month from 2-4pm beginning Saturday, March 16. The inaugural Borderlands series features two poets: Grace Curtis from Dayton and Andy Roberts from Columbus. The Poets: Grace Curtis' chapbook, The Surly Bonds of Earth, was selected by Pulitzer Prize winning poet, Stephen Dunn as the winner of the Lettre Sauvage 2010 Poetry Contest. She has had poetry in Scythe Literary Journal, The Chaffin Journal, Waccamaw Literary Journal, Baltimore Review, among others, and had a Pushcart Prize nomination in 2011. Grace received her MFA from Ashland University in 2010. She lives in Dayton, Ohio where she volunteers at The Antioch Review. Grace writes about poetry at www.N2Poetry.com. Andy Roberts lives in Columbus, Ohio where he works as a legal custodian for disabled veterans. Since the mid-1980s his poems have appeared in hundreds of small press publications including Atlanta Review, Fulcrum, Mudfish, Ship of Fools and many others. His poems have twice been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. Borderlands: Poetry On the Edge recurs every month on the third Saturday from 2-4pm through November.
