DESCRIPTION:The Pearl Conard Gallery at Ohio State Mansfield is proud to present Labors: An Exhibition Exploring the Complexities of Motherhood\, curated by Kate Shannon\, Associate Professor in the Department of Art at Ohio State. The exhibition is made possible through a Coca-Cola Critical Difference for Women Grant for Research on Women\, Gender\, and Gender Equity from the Department of Women's\, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Ohio State University. Shannon says\, "I am a visual artist and a new mother. As I begin to examine this life transition through my creative work\, I am seeking out other artists who address motherhood. Labors is an exhibition that explores the complexities of motherhood while giving other mother-artists an important platform to share their joys\, anxieties\, and traumas." The free public opening reception begins with Shannon giving an informal curator's talk beginning at 12:35 pm. Spring gallery hours are Monday/Wednesday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm\; Tuesday/Thursday from 12:30-4:00 pm\, and Friday 11:00 am-2:00 pm. Please note: the gallery is staffed by student workers\, so hours may shift. Artists (and one artist collective) contributing to the Labors exhibition include: Erin Holscher Almazan\, Diana Baumbach\, Adina Bricklin\, Erin Elizabeth\, Allison Ellingson\, Nicole Foran\, Zoe Freney\, Jessica Gardner\, Megan Hildebrandt\, Victoria Hoyt\, Sarah Irvin\, Courtney Kessel\, Minus Plato\, Clare Qualmann\, Kaitlynn Redell\, Sheilah Restack\, Corrie Thompson\, and Ellen J. Whetmore. The exhibition runs February 26-March 23.
